A fantasy of many: a nice aroma, rich color, tangy taste: titillating
all senses, is a plateful of tempting delicacy. Everybody has its own favorite
and finds it very hard to stop salivating at its first mention let alone the
first bite. Good food is a sure mood lifter.
India is a land of gamut of cuisines; each detailed
and quite
different from another having its own distinctive signature dishes to show off!
Though Delhi in particular lacks a well defined cuisine of its own. But it hugs
the best of all others with open arms like it welcomes people from all spheres
of life and gives it its own touch. And that is the reason why Delhi is known
for its sumptuous food especially street food. Here you can find even the high
profile people having golgappas (pani puri) on street, sharing the same table
in dingy parantha wali gali@Chandni chowk or gorging on high calorie chole
bhature, most probably accompanied by a diet coke! Such is the lovely foodie irony!
Me, who has a diet of a bird (as people love to call it) is
a food lover who loves spicy food but still like to occasionally gorge on sweets.
And I love to talk about and writing about it too (your guess is so good! ).
In the “In the bylanes of chatori gali” series, I would be
covering the some food joints of Delhi;
famous for its street food and which have been there for years. Sticking by my words:
‘Delhi is a paradise for food lovers and is famous for its authentic experience
of savoring on dishes, recipes of which are passed down generation to
generation. Enjoy the paradise delights till you are here.’
So, here is the Food for thought, fresh out of oven:
With an empty stomach, what all you can think about is only food. So better have your tummy full to think and tackle the world’s problems.
Happy gorging!!
