Chhole bhature : A specialty
of Punjabi cuisine has found its respectable place in Delhi’s food circuit
since long. There are many shops here which are famous only for specializing in
this dish. Chache Di Hatti is one of them.
Being a huge fan of chhole bhature, it was on my must-visit list
after listening to praises from true delhite foodies. It is a small shop selling
only chhole bhature in a lane of Kamla Nagar, bustling with college students of
Delhi University .And once you are on Bungalow Road, you can easily identify
the shop at lunch time. As there is always a big queue lined up in front of the
shop in lunch timing and there is separate line for ladies also.
A reasonably priced plate consist of chhole and bhature (which
have two varieties: plain and potato stuffed, both equally delicious) along
with generous helping of onion rings, green chili and a slice of lemon. Only
first spoonful of chhole cooked with right blend of spices will tingle your
taste buds and make you its fan. There is a noticeable tangy flavor to it, making
it all the more tempting. The bhature are round small ones but not thin and are
very much similar to home-made type, hence one does not feel heavy after a plateful
but still get enough to relish it.A must try if you are fan of street food and
especially chhole bhature. The special secret chhole masala which the shopkeeper
use is also available in packets to take away to recreate the magic at home.
In Summers, have them along with a glassful of bubbling spicy
Lemon Soda sold in the adjacent shop to complete the food experience.
Must try: Mashed Potato Stuffed bhature
Today's Food for thought:
We strive hard to get essentials right, including food but what good is when we don't get time to enjoy it in peace.
Happy Gorging!!
